So, sometimes when I turn on my computer, after a few moments, I start hearing a sort of spinny-grinding noise from it. I don't know what it is, but it usually stops if I put the computer in sleep mode for a minute or so, and it won't make the noise again until next time I turn on my computer. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong other than the noise.

Noises are usually a product of the computer's fan.

Or a drive that wants you dead.

If it's a hard drive making the noise, you could be getting ready to lose it.
If it's a fan, you could be in bigger trouble. Best thing to do is open the case and see if you can pinpoint it. If it's the CPU fan, I'd get that replaced, ASAP.

My computer makes noises like that sometimes. I believe its the fan, as a good punch or kick to the side will usually remedy the situation for atleast a couple hours.
Yes, Grims and psycho have already told me how bad I take care of my machines.

It's best to open it up and see. I've seen computers where a wire was hitting the fan, eventually the fan will cut through the wire and you'll have instable power, if you get any at all...

I never thought of it being a wire. I'll check that out.
Also, if it's my hard drive I'll be mighty pissed, I just had that replaced this summer. This could be what it is, though, since it never made the sound before I got the new hard drive in.

Well. Assuming the hard drive is new, it's under warrenty still.

Yes, but it would still be a pain to get back everything I've accumulated over the past few months.

That's why you should have a DVD Burner, CD-RW, Aux HDD, etc. for backups.

And he prob has to much porn to burn..... I try to keep my stash small. I opened my tower and it sounds like it's the hard drive. You'd figure a new hard drive wouldn't do shit like this.

Glad youre feeling better. I was being sarcastic by the way, but i do have good stories. I kinda flip flop from depression to somewhat content constantly so i know the feeling. Im just glad im getting better and just saying eff it. Stuff still bothers the hell out of me but not quite as much as it would have in the past.
